Beautiful One Color Prints on Kraft

While it is true in some cases that the more “high end” a particular print or packaging presentation may be, the higher the cost that went into its creation, it is not uncommon for a box that receives the bulk of compliments and attention on our gallery to be the least expensive, simplest print solution available. That is, very often, one color prints on kraft board. Not only are these designs ideal for minimizing print plate and overall box prices, when done well, they are also a perfect fit for many brands seeking a sophisticated, sharp, clean-cut look for their packaging.

Kraft Board Benefits on Printed Shipping Boxes

In many situations, we are firm believers in the less is more stance. Don’t buy the sporty convertible to drive around in the snow. Kraft board is less expensive than white because it is made from recycled content, whereas white is ALWAYS virgin board. White board will show every scuff, mark, scrape acquired through the shipping process, so essentially, you are paying more for something that may arrive to your customer with less visual appeal. There is also the added green benefit of being able to say that your packaging is made from recycled materials, which is vital to many eco-friendly companies.

Utilizing a dark color overprinted or reverse printed on kraft creates a bold, elegant, handsome look that is consistent with many companies and their products, including some of the following categories in the subscription field, just to name a few:

  • Razors
  • Coffee and Tea
  • Cigars
  • Books
  • Rugged (outdoor) wear/apparel
  • Crafts
  • Cologne/Body and Beauty Products

Maximize Branding by Minimizing Colors

Using a flexographic printing process, many 3 or more color designs require some tweaking to be print ready, or may not be printable at all. For this reason, we typically recommend limiting the amount of colors used in a design, particularly when you consider the added cost per color. Each color is applied with a separate print plate (typically a $400-600 investment each) and initial cost can add up into the four figures with numerous colors. Using the kraft board as a secondary, complimentary color is not only cost effective, as you see below, it creates a wonderful end result.
