If you have spent any time on our Salazar Packaging website, or reading this blog, you may have stumbled across a term we use quite commonly, “Semi-Custom packaging.” Our first two related posts below cover this term quite extensively, but semi-custom essentially means a printed die-cut mailer box that is one of our existing sizes, branded with your unique custom graphics. We don’t tend to like to use the term “Standard sizes,” as this implies that there is a small, medium or large option that can be ordered like a bag of popcorn. There are truly no industry standard sizes for custom packaging. In fact, many times people will contact us and ask if we have a medium-sized box. We typically respond by asking, “what is your definition of medium?”
The reality is, we probably have a size that is right for you. We are proud to say we now have over 240 cutting dies, small to large and able to accommodate a variety of products. These range from lock front mailers to indestructo style mailers, to top tuck style—all in a variety of board grades, such as E, B and C Flute. The benefit with all of these sizes is that if one of them works for you, it means you do not have to pay for the tooling cost to purchase a new cutting die (typically a savings of about $600-1200). But of course, it is far from a complete list, and we encourage you to contact us regarding your specific needs.

Again, there are no standard sizes for custom packaging. But we have a wide variety that should fit your needs. If not, no problem! We can size a mailer and/or insert to fit your product. We do it every day! There will be tooling expenses, but this does ensure that your product is well protected with the best fit possible.
